Caroline Ratcliff

Caroline Ratliff loved painting as a young girl. She majored in art at Mary Baldwin College and the University of Alabama. After teaching art for one year in her hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, Caroline moved to Houston where she taught reading and language arts in the HISD and Alief ISD schools, as well as rearing two sons. She was a secondary supervisor for elective subjects in the Fort Bend ISD. Upon retiring she returned to her first love, painting. She has studied with internationally noted pastel artists: Doug Dawson, Kathleen Cook, Gil Dellinger, Urania Tarbet, and is presently a student of Billie Barnes at HCAA. Caroline is a member of Central Texas Pastel Society, Rockport Center for the Arts, Houston Art Society, and Houston Civic Arts Association.

Caroline’s pastel landscapes and portraits show a love of color and emotion. She says, “Happiness is being an artist.”
